The Construction Materials Division is one of the major
suppliers of construction materials in Hong Kong. Established in 1978,
the Division is engaged in the production and supply of ready-mixed
concrete and mortar, aggregates and other quarry products as well
as the trading and distribution of cement in Hong Kong and cement
manufacturing in the Chinese Mainland.

Ken On Concrete Company Limited has concrete
batching plants set up in strategic distribution locations and
on major project sites with a fleet of over 120 concrete mixer
trucks to serve its customers all over Hong Kong. As a major
supplier of ready-mixed concrete in Hong Kong, Ken On is an
ISO 9001-certified producer with an annual capacity of about
1.5 million cubic metres of ready-mixed concrete.
All of Ken On's on-site and commercial batching plants, including
two in Guangzhou in the Chinese Mainland, are equipped with
state-of-the-art technology and computerized equipment to control
quality and output. Ken On's superior technical expertise and
quality assured operations have enabled it to cater to the stringent
requirements of large-scale projects such as the Kap Shui Mun
Bridge, Ma Wan Viaduct, Mass Transit Railway's Kowloon Station
and other projects requiring the design and production of special
high strength concrete for achieving high durability performance.
Ken On was awarded a Certificate of Merit in the Hong Kong Management
Association Quality Award 1998 in recognition of its achievement
in quality management.

Aggregates
& Rock Products |

|
The quarrying division produces aggregates and
a range of rock products including concrete and asphaltic aggregates,
hand core rock fill filter materials, road sub-based materials
and various sizes of marine rocks in the Chinese Mainland. The
division holds the licence to operate the two quarries in Zhuhai
and one in Longkoushan, Xinhui, attaining a total capacity of
over six million tones of various rock products per annum. The
division also produces precast concrete structures in the Guangdong
area for major construction projects in Hong Kong.
The division provides technical and management services for
excavation and rehabilitation works. Projects undertaken include
the quarry rehabilitation at Lamma Island, Turret Hill in Shatin
and the rock quarrying and crushing contracts for the Daya Bay
Nuclear Power Station in the Chinese Mainland.

Instant Mortars Limited is a pioneer in supplying
pre-mixed mortars to the construction industry in Hong Kong.
Ready-mixed mortars are principally used for wall plastering
and floor screed and offer contractors numerous advantages over
traditional mortars which are hand-mixed on site, including
consistency in quality, enhanced productivity and reduced wastage.

Far East Cement Company Limited is a joint venture
among Shui On, Sumitomo-Osaka Cement of Japan and International
Maritime Carriers Group.
The company imports and distributes bulk cement principally
in Hong Kong, Serving also southern China. Storage and distribution
in Hong Kong are undertaken through its modern terminal and
loading facilities located at Lamma Island. Equipped with two
20,000-tonne cement silos and loading facilities, modern ship
berthing and unloading facilities, self-propelled cement barges,
shore-based distribution depots and a fleet of cement tankers,
it has an annual throughput of up to 600,000 tonnes.

Chongqing
TH Cement
The cement joint ventures in Chongqing, Participated through
hoddings in TH Cement Group was established in 1995.
The first rotary kiln constructed under the joint venture commenced
operation in early 1998 and reached its full production capacity
in mid-1998. A cement griding mill in Chongqing was acquired
from a local electricity power station in early 1998 to produce
fly-ash cement to take advantage of the lower raw material costs.
Due to rapid market growth, a second rotary kiln was constructed
in 1999 and lifted the annual production capacity of TH Cement
to one million tones of high grade cement, further consolidating
TH Cement's position as a market leader in Chongqing and its
surrounding areas.
Nanjing Cement
In March 1998, Shui On acquired a 60% interest in Nanjing Jiangnan
Cement Company Limited., which operates a 500,000-tonne cement
plant in Nanjing, establishing a strategic base in the Yangtze
Basin to supply cement to Shanghai, other major coastal cities
and for Shui On's own use in Gangzhou.
Building Components
To take advantage of the lower operating costs in the Chinese
Mainland, several joint ventures have been formed in the Guangdong
area to produce building components such as metal gates, aluminium
windows, as well as precast facades and drywall units tith built-in
conduits. They mainly supply the needs of the Construction Division.
